I am the ladies day champion
Last week my men’s league had “ladies day” which is where all the men play from the ladies or red tees. Lowest score other than mine was a 70. My score? 65! I found my true calling in golf and crushed the field by five shots! And I even bogeyed a par five. I had two

Ping’s John Solheim takes on the USGA and R&A on new groove rules
Ping’s Chairman John Solheim is standing up for square grooves and I don’t blame him. I can really benefit from square grooves, which I do have in three of my four wedges. They help me enjoy the game. I also think that PGA Tour pros have it too easy with the “bomb and gouge” way of

Click here to hear this latest episode of TravelGolf.com This Week . In this week’s podcast, host Dave Berner talks to Damon Hack of Sports Illustrated about why Lucas Glover’s U.S. Open victory at Bethpage Black really wasn’t that surprising. “He’s a great young player,” Hack says. “It all came together on a long, wet week at Bethpage Black. We should know that this isn’t a fluke. This is a player who has a lot of respect from guys on the PGA Tour.” PGA Hall of Fame member Gary Wiren – director of instruction for Donald Trump Golf Properties and founder of Golf Around the World – offers the key to hitting better green-side bunker shots. “Finish!” Wiren says. “Do not decelerate. One of the most important things is to get aggressive through the ball with your left side and splash the sand.” Alan Martin, founder of Thumbs Down, The Power Move , says he can help you fix your slice. Kenny Perry’s Traveler’s Championship Winning Clubs

During last week's U.S. Open at Bethpage Bloack, Kenny Perry removed his 3-iron and put a 19 prototype TaylorMade Raylor rescue club in its place. According to TaylorMade, Perry used club successfully out of the rough from 220 yards out on the 10th hole to reach the green and make a birdie. Company reps said that because Perry's angle of attack is shallow, he often has trouble hitting longer clubs from deep rough, but the Raylor's V-shape sole design helped him a lot. At the TPC River Highlands outside Hartford, where the rough was less severe than Bethpage Black's, Perry put his 3-iron back in the bag, but used a 22 Raylor instead of his 5-wood. Here is a complete list of the club's Perry used to his 14th career PGA Tour event: DRVIER : TaylorMade R9 460 (9.5) with Fujikura Matore F1 shaft FAIRWAY WOOD : TaylorMade Burner (14.5) with Fujikura Re AX TP75 shaft HYBRID: TaylorMade Raylor prototpye (18) with Fujikura Rombax TP 75 shaft IRONS : TaylorMade r7 (4-PW) with FST KB Tour shafts WEDGES : TaylorMade rac (54, 64), Cleveland CG14 (60) with True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shafts PUTTER : Ping G2i Craz-E BALL : Titleist Pro V1x Take a look inside more PGA Tour winners' bags Follow David Dusek on Twitter (Photo by Jim Rogash/Getty Images)

Click here to hear this latest episode of TravelGolf.com This Week . In this week’s podcast, host Dave Berner talks to golf course architect Ron Garl about his new, award-winning design in China, The Admirals Club at Nine Dragons Golf Resort. “It’s a very unusual piece of land because we’ve got some really nice beaches; and then we’ve got some cliffs; and then we’ve got mountains,” Garl says. “So we’ve got a great combination of what you’d like to have when you start the design work.” Kiel Christianson talks about the Evans Scholarship program . “The idea was to help kids who had worked as caddies at various golf courses go to college,” Christianson says. “So far the program has been able to distribute around $100 million to students.” PGA Hall of Fame member Gary Wiren – director of instruction for Donald Trump Golf Properties and founder of Golf Around the World – says focus is the key to good golf. “First of all, it’s very difficult to do it for 18 holes like Ben Hogan did,” Wiren says. “Most [players] play the in and out game, which means they have a tight focus, and then they have a light focus.” This podcast is supported by Golf Vacations UK and OrlandoGolf.com .
